Tohunga. Expert. Senior-led, on every project.
Tohunga Transport Advisory Partners is a Wellington-based transport planning, engineering and advisory consultancy. Founded so that the senior names you saw in the bid are the senior names actually doing the work.
What we are
TTAP — short for Tohunga Transport Advisory Partners — is a small, senior, NZ-based transport consultancy. "Tohunga" is te reo Māori for expert: a skilled practitioner whose authority comes from depth of practice. We chose the name as a commitment. Our team is structured so that every project is led by people with 15-plus years of practice across NZTA, councils, and major infrastructure programmes.
What we believe
Shaping the future of sustainable and innovative transport solutions that enhance the quality of life for our own communities, environment, and future generations.
Resilience
Adapting to challenges with agility and foresight to create robust and enduring transport networks.
Sustainability
Prioritising eco-friendly practices to ensure a greener future for generations to come.
Collaboration
Building strong partnerships to foster a shared vision of efficient and integrated transport systems.
Innovation
Embracing cutting-edge solutions to revolutionise transport planning and infrastructure.
How we work
- Senior-led delivery. No grad-led work. The senior names in the proposal are on the project from kickoff to completion.
- Evidence-based recommendations. Every business case, design and review is grounded in measured data — FWD, traffic counts, modelled forecasts, condition surveys.
- Local accountability. One Wellington office. Local knowledge of NZ regulations, councils, contractor capability and supply chains.
- Transparent commercials. Fixed-fee where the scope is fixed; T&M where it isn't. Clear progress reporting against scope and budget.
