Overview

Auckland Transport engaged TTAP for a series of corridor safety reviews on Walters Road. The work covered safety engineering and engineering design across several intersections and ped-cyclist conflict points.

What we did

  • Crash data review across the corridor — analysed by road surface condition (83% dry / 17% wet), weather (78% fine / 18% rain / 4% mist-fog), lighting (52% day / 48% dark) and crash type (failed-to- give-way, rear-end, lost-control)
  • Risk-rating assessment for each identified location
  • Improvement measures identified for short, medium and long-horizon interventions

Outcome

The Walters Rd review delivered a prioritised corridor-safety improvement list that AT could fold directly into its forward safety programme. The combination of crash-data-led prioritisation and on-site engineering judgement meant the recommendations were defensible at both technical review and stakeholder communication.
